TripleCare Introduces Its Telemedicine Services in Four Covenant Health Skilled Nursing Facilities in New England

Rollouts Include First Skilled Nursing Facility in Maine as Well as Three Others in Boston Area

NEW YORK, NY October 09, 2017

TripleCare,a national provider of telemedicine-based healthcare services to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), announced today that the company introduced its services in four Covenant Health facilities throughout New England. Covenant Health, a Catholic regional non-profit health delivery network focused on elder care, spans hospitals, skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, assisted living residences and community-based health and elder care organizations throughout the New England area.

TripleCare recently introduced its telemedicine services in the following Covenant-owned and operated SNFs:

  • Mary Immaculate, 172 Lawrence Street, Lawrence, MA 01841
  • St Joseph Manor, 215 Thatcher Street, Brockton, MA 02302
  • Maristhill, 66 Newton Street, Waltham, MA 02453
  • St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, 102 Campus Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240

The Maine location is believed to be the first SNF in the state to introduce telemedicine services.

TripleCare provides Covenant virtual healthcare services during times when physicians are not on site or on call, such as overnight, during the weekends and on holidays. These are the times when most hospital transfers from SNFs occur. The company’s network of highly trained physicians perform virtual bedside visits, treating patients in place, using advanced technology, coupled with assistance from Covenant’s on-site nurses. TripleCare’s telemedicine-based approach allows its physicians to differentiate patients that require a hospital transfer from those that can be treated in Covenant’s facilities. TripleCare’s virtual physician services have proven to aid in avoiding unnecessary hospital transfers, enhancing patient care and comfort while also demonstrating significant cost savings for SNFs.
“As one of the first telemedicine companies to enter the healthcare arena back in 2011, TripleCare has proven both the health and financial benefits of our capabilities to the facilities we serve. We comfortably and cost effectively manage patients where they reside and help avoid hospitalizations. These are the exact reasons that nearly 70 SNFs across the country, like Covenant, have come to rely on and trust TripleCare’s service, physicians, quality of care and results,” stated Mary Jo Gorman, chief executive officer at TripleCare.
“We look forward to working with Covenant’s team and their local facility nurses to treat patients in place so they are well cared for, attended to and can possibly avoid the stresses and costs of hospital admissions. This benefits all stakeholders involved in the delivery of our telemedicine-based care,” Gorman said.
“We are so pleased to introduce TripleCare’s telemedicine services to four of our assisted living facilities. Since introducing TripleCare, we’ve already had great successes in diagnosing and caring for patients that could have otherwise resulted in a hospital transfer. Additionally, TripleCare has proven to be an excellent education tool for our nurses. Covenant Health is committed to providing high-quality care to those who place their trust in us and we are confident that TripleCare will continue to enhance care delivery for our patients and nurses,” said Gerard J. Foley, SVP and president for Post-Acute Care for Covenant Health.
