TripleCare to Introduce Telemedicine at the Middletown Home

Treating Patients in Place through Virtual Physician Visits Sets the Middletown Home Apart; Among Area’s only Post-acute Longer-term Nursing Care Facility to Use Telemedicine

NEW YORK, NY November 20, 2017

TripleCare,a national provider of telemedicine-based healthcare services to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), announced today that its services will be introduced at the Middletown Home, a campus spanning wellness, rehabilitation and life-long learning in Dauphin County, Pa.

TripleCare is providing the Middletown Home’s post-acute care and longer term nursing care units, located on the campus at 999 West Harrisburg Pike, Middletown, Pa. 17057, with virtual healthcare services during times when physicians are not on site, such as overnight, during the weekends and on holidays. These are the times when most hospital transfers from SNFs occur. The company’s network of highly trained physicians perform virtual bedside visits, treating patients in place, using advanced technology, coupled with assistance from The Middletown Home’s on-site nurses.
TripleCare’s telemedicine-based approach allows its physicians to differentiate patients that require a hospital transfer from those that can be treated on campus at the Middletown Home. TripleCare’s virtual physician services have proven to aid in avoiding unnecessary hospital transfers, enhancing patient care and comfort while also demonstrating significant cost savings.
“TripleCare’s telemedicine services ensure that board-certified physicians are available to treat patients with complex medical conditions in place, onsite at The Middletown Home. This aids in reducing hospital transfers and helps patients and their families avoid stressful situations. With our services, quality care is now available at the Middletown Home, day and night,” Mary Jo Gorman, TripleCare’s chief executive officer.
“TripleCare was founded with a mission to help patients receive the best care possible, any time, from the comfort of their own beds. With a reach that extend nationally, we can bring our state-of-the-art physician network and telemedicine services to the residents of Middletown Home at times when they typically didn’t have physician staff available, which truly makes a difference in the level of care Middletown Home provides,” Gorman concluded.
Fred Barrett, vice president of operations at the Middletown Home, commented on the new arrangement with TripleCare: “TripleCare’s cutting-edge services are indicative of the Middletown Home’s commitment to delivering the highest quality of care available to our patients. We trust the care of our patients to TripleCare’s expert physicians during off hours when our facility does not typically have physician coverage. By engaging TripleCare, their physician team can help reduce both our admission and re-admission rates to local hospitals while affording our patients and their families much greater peace of mind, which is what’s most important to all of us here at the Middletown Home.”
TripleCare’s physicians will work closely with the Middletown Home’s nurses and doctors to deliver seamless treatment through direction communication and examinations and treatment of patients using advanced two-way video and digital diagnostic equipment. With TripleCare’s physician team, 80 percent of cases result in treatment in place and improved outcomes for patients.
